Ferme St-Ours is at the leading edge of technology. For example, it was the first Quebec farm to build a hen house with a veranda, containing 20,000 breeder hens. The farm’s owners found this technology in Europe and established it in Quebec. Since, several farms followed their lead. Ferme St-Ours became Canada’s most important organic egg farm.

Each farm has a manager who is responsible for the production site and for the daily decision making. Employees are well treated and find their work very fulfilling in a rewarding environment. They also receive trainings on a regular basis to improve their knowledge and develop their abilities. In fact, every year, one percent of the payroll is invested in training.

The Ferme St-Ours’s facilities comply with all regulations regarding the welfare of the animals and they are inspected on a regular basis. The farm owns several hen houses where hens are free. In addition, hens are vaccinated at a young age to avoid giving them medication later.

The lands located in St-Ours and in St-Charles-sur-le-Richelieu have been converted into organic lands. The maple grove was recently certified organic by Ecocert Canada. Therefore, no pesticide, herbicide or GMO are used in the culture of seeds nor are they present in the organic hens’ feed. Hen houses are designed and built with the objective of reducing the environmental impact. Ferme St-Ours is also equipped with an organic flour mill on the same site where the organic hen houses are located.

When it comes to eggs, maple products, sunflower oil and grains, Ferme St-Ours especially cares about offering high-quality products to its customers. This is why mash recipes are prepared to suit the hen’s needs and specifications. The Omega-3 and Omega-3 and lutein enriched eggs are some of the products offering an added value to the customers. Maple products are made in an environment that complies with high standards of wholesomeness using special tools designed for the farm’s specific needs.

Ferme St-Ours produces healthy and natural food. The farm’s eggs, sunflower oil and maple syrup are examples of healthy food and are free of preservative agents or added ingredients. The processed maple products are prepared in accordance with our ancestors’ traditional recipes: the principal ingredient always remains the maple syrup. In addition, they contain more than 95 % of certified organic ingredients.
